Chris snorkelling. Still white!

Wadjemup Lighthouse
Wadjemup is the aborigional name for the Island off the WA coast, European settlers called Rottnest.
Wadjemup means 'Place across the water' or 'Place of Spirits'

Rottnest Island - Reminds me of the Hebrides. No cars allowed, only bikes.
We also saw one Quokka, which is a small marsupiel. It wasn't doing anything, being too hot to move and it seemed to be nursing a joey. The island was named by a Dutch explorer who saw Quokka and thought they were rats. As if I would be there if there were RATS!
Went snorkelling, saw a few fish and lots of coral. When we returned on the ferry that evening, overheard two people talking about the rays and dolphins they had seen.
Will have to go back and have another look.

Had our first 'barbie' last night, with another doctor and nurse who are about to go back to the UK.
Alan is now cycling home from work along the Swan River. I will do the same, except along the Indian Ocean shore. Ok as long as the Fremantle Doctor (wind) is not against you.
Everyone is very health conscious, lots of joggers, cyclists and surfers, rowers and canoeists. There are outdoor gyms along the coastline in Cottesloe.

Saw my first kangeroos today.
I could hear the theme tune to 'Skippy the Bush Kangeroo' in my head.

Where's the engine?

House hunting today.
Boring.

Bad news about the house- Additional furry friend family also live here.
Now back to house hunting. We did however see one sunset here, over the Indian Ocean.
Bit lukewarm, as if it knew we were moving!

Tasks for tommorrow-
1. Move house
2. Buy bed, preferably portable, preferably can be carried by one person up 2 flights of stairs in very hot conditions, ideally more comfortable than the floor- visit to camping or hammock shop?
3. Feel happy in new house and enjoy first sunset
Ever wondered what happened to all the Dingos?

Red the Dog

Saturday, November 18, 2006

Temperature 29 degrees today, cold had to wear extra clothes.
We have moved out of our holiday apartment today, we can move back in tommorrow. I am staying with a friend of the holiday apartment owner and Al is on call at the hospital.
I went round to see her this morning, her dog Red took a dislike to my shoes. When I go back it will have to be barefoot.
Moving house again on Wednesday, into our new house. Then, no more moving?

Indiana Tea House, Cottesloe Beach
Arrived in Australia on Halloween
Loved the flight with Cathay Pacific, wished it could go on for longer.
Christmas lights and decorations everywhere in Perth. Santa Claus has been seen giving out presents in the town centre.
First Impressions- HOT

Now need to look for house, job, car, bike, koalas, adventures.
